Did you know that 91% of the women is feeling insecure about their body shape? A lot of women aren’t even aware what type of body they have.

You can help your customer feel better about themself by making “body type dressing” easy. For this, body type styling rules need to be applied. That is where our software comes in: we analyze the body type of the consumer and then work with that body type to apply the right rules on the collections you sell.

When we know which parts of the body are the insecurity-driver, we make sure to draw attention on certain areas so that the total appearance can work to its advantage. The result is a more satisfied & confident customer.

To give you some insights, here are the standard body types we use and the rules we apply for each of the shapes:

  1. Y-shape: the hips are smaller than the shoulders, there is no clear waistline but there are straight hips. Think of a typical swim-athlete. It’s important to take away the attention from the broad shoulders, and focus everything on the below side of the body. Show hips & legs to appear more feminine!

  2. A-shape: The upper body is smaller than the lower body. The widest point on the body are the hips, which makes the lower body look more full-figured. A-shapes are already very feminine & sexy. So it’s better to focus on the smallest part of the body: that’s everything above the hips. This will create the illusion to have wider shoulders and smaller hips.

  3. O-shape: When the hips & shoulders are the same width, and there is no defined clear waist, but a rather small behind & thin legs. A lot of people are under the impression that persons with an O-body type are by default full-figured or heavier people. This is not the case! It only has to do with the shape of the body. Legs & cleavage are perfect for show-off.

  4. I-shape: Typical for this body type is that shoulders & hips are evenly wide. There is no outspoken waistline or big breasts. This makes feminine items very interesting. We choose to focus on the waistline. Elegant & mature clothing garments will make the shape appear more grown up and feminine.

  5. X-shape: The shoulders are as wide as the hips, and there is an obvious waistline. This is frequently considered the most ideal body shape, but to every & each body shape, there are advantages & disadvantages. It’s all about getting the most out of each body shape. Here it’s important to focus on the waistline, and make it stand out to look even more feminine & elegant.

  6. Petite: Length is smaller than 1.64m. There is always a combination of “Petite” and another body shape. For “Petite” figures, the rule is to lengthen the body by wearing the same color on the upper body as the lower body. Always emphasize waistline or legs. Combine with nude shoes.

As an extra factor, some bodies have “big breasts” (cupsize >D) and that demands different rules. Always wear V-necks and avoid too large prints on the upper body.
